This is the 24th project shot at the Alicante-based studios.
The film, directed by the Bosnian Danis Tanovic, stars Colin Farrell, Cristopher Lee and Paz Vega.
It is a European affair, being co-produced by France (Asap Films), Ireland (Parallel Films) and Spain (Freeform Spain, Tornasol, Castafiore Films and Realizaciones Audiovisuales AIE).
It will be shot at locations in and around the Valencian Community such as Alicante, Xixona, Elx and Sant Vicent, as well as in Dublín
The studios and filmsets at Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante will, over the next five weeks, host the filming of the international co-production ‘Triage’. This film, directed by the Bosnian director Danis Tanovic, who won the Oscar for Best Non-English Language Film in 2001, stars Chistopher Lee and Colin Farell, who in turn are accompanied by the Spanish actress Paz Vega, who is returning to Ciudad de la Luz after her role in 2006 in ‘Theresa: The Body of Christ’ by Ray Loriga.
This war story, taking the war that hit the Balkans in 1992 and 1995 as its historical backdrop, tells the story of Mark, a graphic reporter who is returning from the Kurdistan war with the physical and psychological traumas brought on by the disappearance of his friend David. Little by little, Mark begins to investigate, slowly uncovering the clues to resolve the enigma of David's disappearance.
This film will be co-produced by the French Asap Films, the Irish Parallel Films and the Spanish Free Form Spain, Castafiore Films, Tornasol Films and Realizaciones Audiovisuales AIE.
The filming will take place in various locations within the Valencian Community, such as Xixona, Elx or the Sabinar valley in Sant Vicent del Raspeig which, for a few weeks, will be transformed into a Kurdistan hospital.
A compelling war drama
The feature film ‘Triage’, based on the original literary work of American journalist Scott Anderson and focussing on the Balkans War, is of great cultural, social and political importance. This is a topic of maximum relevance for Europe because of the resurgence of different nationalist movements and inter-cultural conflicts, as well as the complicated politics of war crimes and human rights.
Impact for the Valencian Community
As on other occasions throughout the three years of the audiovisual complex's activity, the production of this film will have a considerable economic impact on the Valencian Community, thanks to the generation of jobs and the contracting of local businesses and services, such as camera and lighting equipment, aquatic teams, hotels, transport, security, travel agents, dubbing, set construction and casting and extras teams.
