A Fusion of Art, Industry and Entertainment

Ciudad de la Luz is an initiative of the Valencian Government, inspired by the concept of fusing art, industry and entertainment together in order to create a unified force that drives development and innovation forward within the fields of Science, Art and Technology and Culture. In this way, it is to serve as a launchpad for the development and growth of the Community within these fields, as well as those in other areas that it has had an indirect influence on on, such as industry and the employment sector: more than 7000 jobs have been created since work began on its construction.

Ever since the project came into being, it has set itself up to be "the ideal place to host, from the very smallest to the very largest, American and European productions" and has continued as such up to the present day.

Ciudad de la Luz was born from the desire of the director, Luis García Berlanga, to reindustrialise the Spanish audiovisual sector. Working in collaboration with different producers, such as José Antonio Sáinz de Vicuña, his project has become a reality thanks to the Valencian Autonomous Government. Since 2004, the Ciudad de la Luz S.A.U. has contracted Aguamarga Studio Management as the company responsible for the management of its Ciudad de la Luz studios.

So now, Alicante boasts one of the most complex and complete installations in the world for the production of film, TV films, fiction series, advertisments, music videos, and all other productions that require the use of modern audiovisual facilities.

The architectural design of this complex is the work of the American, Gary Bastien, who has remodelled film studios for giants such as Paramount, Dreamworks and Warner BROS, amongst others. To carry out the work on the complex, Gary Bastien counted on the collaboration of the Valencian studio of architects, Magín Ruíz de Albornoz.
